M1 System Notes
M1 System Notes
Here's some more detail about our M1 mastering consoles. Just compare the features below to any other product on the market. We think you'll agree that the M1 is somewhat special!
Remote Racks
- The audio processing and routing is done in modular remote 1RU racks.
- These are air cooled (no fans, no noise) so can be kept in the same room as your other gear, or can be mounted in a machine room.
Control Panels
- The control panels are compact and slim, with a low acoustic impact. They can be mounted into your own studio furniture, into a 4RU 19" space, or into one of our movable wooden pods.
- All the information as to your routing, levels, selections and workflow is permanently displayed on the controllers. You can see at a glance what's happening , and alter things just as easily, often without looking at the controllers, just using your ears and hands to get the balance right.
- All levels are displayed in clear numeric numbers to make it easy to recall them, while you can also see the positions of knobs and switches.
- You can save and recall settings on power up and power down.
- You can relable the front panels to suit your studio equipment
- The order of the front panels can be easily changed by you
Power supply
- The M1 is powered by our new digital power supply, which provides all of the internal console voltages from an external 12V DC supply
- The external 12V supply is provided by us, and works all over the world, so there's no mains selection required
- The external power supply is resistant to brown outs, so your console stays working without problems
- The digital power supply was designed by us, and in conjunction with the linear regulators on each circuit provides noise free, responsive power to all the circuits
- Our products now consume 30% less power and dissipate 30% less heat than before
Electronics
- Most of the M1 is passive. All of the analogue routing and gain control is done passively with balanced relays.
- A single buffer stage is present in the monitor card and trimmer cards
- All signals remain balanced throughout the console: we never unbalance them
- Digital signals are interfaced with digital transformers, followed by active buffers to minimise interference
Connectors
- All audio is connected by DB25 Tascam pinout Dsubs
- We can provide XLR breakout panels, or discrete snakes to help you wire up
- Alternatively, you can buy most of snakes you need from many different vendors
Expansion
- The M1 is a modular based mastering console. You can add extra features to your M1 at any time, so your studio is always capable of doing what you want.
- You can morph your M1 into any of our consoles or routers because of the modular nature
- Usually you can upgrade your M1, without it having to be returned to Crookwood, saving you time and money.
