iPre Options

iPre optionsThe iPre has a wealth of options, so you can specify exactly the features and capacities you need for your preamp.

It has options for digital outputs, MADI, split analogue outputs, 130V powering, front panel connectors and more!

Internal ADCs

The iPre comes ready to accept our excellent internal ADC card. This is a special design, using a SRC (sample rate converter) to isolate the ADC from the AES data stream. What this means is that the ADC sounds great whether it's being run off it's local clocks, or via external wordclock.  The quality of the wordclock doesn't matter, the ADC just reject all jitter!

The AES outputs run at the same time as the analogue outputs, both outputs being available simultaneously.

The internal ADC can be fitted by yourself with just a few regular tools.

MADI Card

The Brain rack, which houses the internal power supplies has provision for a MADI card. This provides optical and coaxial outputs running at all sample rates.  The card is not available for commercial use yet, but will be released very soon.

Split Outputs

Each rack of 8 preamps can have our splitter card fitted. This provides 2 additional outputs for every channel and can be used for FOH or broadcast feeds, while the main output is sent to the recording rig.  Each additional output is switchable pre or post the preamp, on a channel by channel basis. On the post output it is separately buffered for isolation, but on the pre output, it is not buffered, which means that if the iPre loses power, this feed will still work, even if phantom power is supplied by the desk at the other end of the cable: the iPre isolates itself for safety.

130V Powering

A special 130V power system is available to power DPA 130V microphones.  The 130V connectors appear on the front panel, while the regular 48V connectors appear on the rear panel.  The 130V system can be fitted in banks of 8 channels at a time. The remote controller allows you to choose which input you want to use on a channel by channel basis.

DC Coupling

The second input of each channel can be selected to be a DC coupled input for ribbon or dynamic mics. The DC system can be fitted in banks of 8 channels at a time. The remote controller allows you to choose which input you want to use on a channel by channel basis.

Front Panel Connectors

Each 8 channels of rack can have front panel connectors added.  This allows you to fit the rack into a frame or flight case, with the outputs connected up on the rear, but the inputs accessible from the front. Great for stageboxes!
