Surround Consoles

As well as stereo mastering consoles we offer a range of surround consoles.  These consoles were designed from our successful stereo consoles, and reflect the fact that you will be working in both stereo and surround for some time to come.

They offer a full range of stereo and surround features for mastering.

Stereo or Surround?

With our consoles, you don't have to chose: they will handle both. We focused on providing predominately stereo features, overlaid with a surround  layer, so you can switch between working in stereo or surround at ease.

We provide the following surround features:

• Surround monitoring
• Surround source selection for monitoring, or transfer (record)
• Surround record inserts
• Bass management for sub woofers

Surround Monitoring

An obvious statement, but all of our surround consoles have surround monitoring!  We do not offer a trivial solution however, it is full featured monitoring with features like:

• 6 or 8 channels of fully tracking gain control, 1dB steps and 0.25B trim levels
• Monitor insert for external bass managers
• Individual memorised speaker calibration so you can get a perfect balance in the room.
• Full range of stereo check functions as we normally provide
• Individual speaker additive solo, cut and phase flip, so you can identify problems on a channel by channel basis
• Foldown of a surround mix to mono to check compatibility
• Foldown of a surround mix to stereo to check compatibility
• Foldown to stereo, but placed on the rear speakers.  Interesting this, but often because of the speaker separations and direct acoustic path, stereo on the rears sounds more like stereo.

Surround Source Selection

We provide stereo and surround sources for monitoring, and sending to the transfer path.  We can send digital sources to external or internal DACs for monitoring, and the system works like it would do in stereo.

Surround Record Inserts

We offer surround inserts in both analogue and digital (model dependant) so you can insert external equipment into a record path.  There isn't a lot of external surround equipment about, but the system treats the inserts in the same way it does the analogue ones: you can insert them in any order, and even mix them with stereo inserts.

Bass Management

We offer a full proper, calibrated filtered bass manager card that allows you to properly integrate your speakers and subwoofers into your room.  Essential for good monitoring!
