Accessory Overview

As well as our main products, we make a set of accessories that will work with them, or often by themselves as a stand alone device.

Some of the devices, like our DACs, ADCs or bass managers are intended to be fitted inside a product, but if you're really interested, we can provide a simple rack system to house and power them, so you can enjoy the sounds and features of these Crookwood products without buying a whole console/ controller or router.  Other devices, like the VU meters, or the cabling can be used in any studio, and make a direct difference no matter what your equipment is.

VU Meters

We make 2 high performance, dual VU meters, one to suit our front panels, and a regular 2RU, 19" unit.  Both VU's have a passive, balanced attenuator on the front panel, so you can use the VU's properly in this digital age.

Even today, VU's are still a really great tool for judging relative loudness, and are widely used in production departments.

Talkback Module

Our talkback module can be added to any of our consoles, monitor controllers, routers or preamps.  It manages talkback to a mono or stereo cue feed, mixing or replacing it with talkback.  Linked with our products, it will also automatically dim the control room monitors, and you can choose to use a gooseneck or stub microphone for superior talkback.

Trimmer Pack

The analogue trimmer pack adds two dual mono trimmers and a MS system to any of our products.  It's great with the router section where you can control the optimum level into analogue processing gear, and then again into the system ADCs. Using stepped repeatable controls, it's great for precision work.

The MS control allows you to apply MS processing to any piece of outboard in our console or routers.

DA and AD Converters

Crookwood makes two excellent audio converters: a DAC and ADC.  We use a minimal, balanced topology for both designs, and isolate each converter semiconductor with a SRC from the external clocks.  This means that the converters always sound excellent, irrespective of the installation.

The converters have been highly praised for their sonic accuracy, but are inexpensive to add to any Crookwood product, because they fit internally into our processing frames.

Bass Manager

Crookwood have a comprehensive bass manager card that can be added to our consoles and monitor controllers.  This card allows you to properly integrate a set of mono or stereo subwoofers into your main stereo or surround speaker sets. Filtering both the sub and the mains together with precision adjustment of the levels, frequency and slopes, allows you to get a really good, seemless integration between your subs and your room.

GPIO Options

We have several GPIO options for our consoles and controllers. From separate panels with relay outputs and isolated input tallies, to RS232 commands, we can interface with most external equipment to integrate control from the same panels that switch the audio.

Panel Mounting

All of our products can be mounted in  several ways into yoru studio to suit your needs.

This can be in a 19" racking system, a movable wooden pod, or directly into studio furniture.  You can also alter the order and layout of most of the panels to suit you.

Cablling

After you've bought the gear,  you need to wire it up.  Most of our equipment used DB25's for the audio connections, which are reliable, sonically good, and appreciably less expensive to wire to, than XLRs.

To assist you in connecting, we can provide you with audio snakes from Dsub to XLR, or XLR breakout patchbays if you prefer, so you don't have to look elsewhere for the cables.
